Global Market Changes for Sidewall Belts

Our phone and emails have literally been red lit over the past few days following the news of ContiTech’s latest wave of factory closures sinks in. Never in a million years did we believe we would see the demise of the Flexowell brand after 60 years in the industry literally inventing the concept of steep angle and vertical conveying systems.

For those of us that are serious players in this niche product sector, it presents a phenomenal opportunity unlike any other. However, one cannot deny that Flexowell was a brand name synonymous with quality and what we must strive to ensure is that the marketplace doesn’t become any more infested with inferior quality product from wheresoever.

As a huge chapter closes in the history of this type of conveyor belt, Speedbird Supplies can now offer a totally unrivalled alternative sidewall belt product based on

✅ Being an independently owned, family run company
✅ The most experienced Sidewall Belt specialists in the world – my father, Peter Lord (former owner of SBS) has 56 years continuous experience in sidewall belts, the first 16 of which were working for Flexowell!
✅ A totally European product thereby ensuring consistency in quality and reliability in delivery time
✅ Providing a comprehensive support package tailored to every customer’s needs – from belt selection to troubleshooting existing belts and conveyor systems through to supporting the installation of sidewall belts to the highest quality standards – we are here to support you in any situation you may be faced with.
✅ Providing customers with “the best of both” including our advanced cold bonding technology as well as a choice of hot vulcanised assembly.

The debate around “cold bonding” versus “hot vulcanised” has been around for decades but proof remains that cold bonding was the first technique this product was produced by and if executed correctly, can be done to an incredibly high standard. Unless a sidewall belt is either carrying and/or operating in temperatures above 80°c, there is NO technical advantage – you’re simply paying over the odds for what you may need.

With immediate capacity at attractive commercial terms, if you’re looking for a reliable, highly competent and experienced supplier for sidewall belts which are fully “Made in Europe” then please get in contact!
