Speedbird Supplies Ltd was formed on 2 January 2013 by its present founder, shareholder and Managing Director – Mr Ben Lord.
From November 1984 to June 2012, Mr Peter Lord (Technical Sales Director – Speedbird Supplies Ltd) was co-founder and 50% shareholder of Specialised Belting Supplies Ltd (SBS) which supplied a very large number of sidewall belts through its S-Wall™ brand. In June 2012, the full shareholding of Specialised Belting Supplies Ltd (SBS) was sold to Continental AG.
In April 2016, SBS ceased to exist and their production in Thetford, UK was closed.
Speedbird Supplies Ltd was formed a short time following the sale of Specialised Belting Supplies Ltd to offer an alternative supply of sidewall conveyor belting globally where the marketplace was becoming increasingly dominated by one major supplier.
Although only in existence for just over a decade, Speedbird Supplies is virtually unrivalled in terms of its longstanding experience, knowledge and expertise in all aspects of sidewall conveyor belting and steep-angle, vertical conveyor applications.
Mr Peter Lord continues to serve as Technical Sales Director and has been directly involved in sidewall belt technology since 1968. He is considered to be one of the longest-serving experts in this field of conveyor technology worldwide.
These efforts are further supported by two production management colleagues who have been intricately involved in all aspects of sidewall belt production, assembly and installation, possessing more than 100 years of combined experience.
